The Straight Knitting Stitch is worked in vertical rows and mimics a knit stockinette stitch, but it's worked on needlepoint canvas.
This stitch makes a very nice filling stitch for small areas as it's a bit tedious to work in larger areas. It's also perfect for areas where you wish to have the object appear to be knitted, such as a scarf on a needlepoint snowman or a sweater on a needlepoint teddy bear.
