To work the Pineapple Stitch, work a group of four long stitches (numbers 1 through 8) in either your single color, or your choice of background color if working in two colors.
Next, work a large cross stitch over the group of long stitches in the same color, or in the secondary color (numbers 9 through 12).
The final step in working the Pineapple Stitch is to top the cross stitch off with a horizontal tacking stitch (13 to 14), worked directly over the intersection of the cross.
