The Mosaic Stitch is a textured needlepoint stitch worked similarly to Scotch and continental stitch, working right to left, but is worked as a block of stitches featuring differing lengths. Its sister stitch, the Reversed Mosaic, is worked in different directions.
Mosaic Stitch is perfect as a filler, used in a blocked or squares area, or in straight lines such as in the Swedish Ornament pattern.
