Pre-Columbian Full-Color Needlepoint Pattern

These patterns - the first featuring a stylized monkey framed by a striped border, and the second a winged bird framed by in chevron border (on the next page), were inpired by Pre-Columbian art from Guatemala. Only three colors of wool in traditional colors are used in these projects.

Work the design area of this piece in Continental Stitch in traditional colors, or adapt the colors to suit your own needs.

Work the backgrounds in Cashmere Stitch to give it texture.

DMC Tapestry Wool, 8 meter skeins:
3 skeins if medium tan 7453, 3 skeins Noir (black), 5 skeins deep reddish brown 7169

Zweigart 14 count mono or interlock canvas, 16 x 16 inches
