Begin stitching near in the middle of the canvas with the stripe of Horizontal Gobelins. Because this pattern is repeating, you do not need to be exact about placement.

Once you have stitched the first stripe, stitch the adjacent Milanese stripe. It is easiest to stitch all the triangles in the main thread first then to stitch the background, going up one side and down the other.

Notice that some of the background stitches are straight stitches going over only one thread, theses can "disappear" under the canvas threads. To minimize this, stitch with a slightly looser tension and make these stitches twice.

After the stocking is stitched, finish it as you like.
