Kuba cloth is a traditional raffia textile woven from palm fronts by the Shoowa people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and was the inspiration for this needlepoint design. Typically this type of textiles was used as clothing, traded as currency and ownership often bestowed prestige.
The square, repeating design is worked in just 4 colors of tapestry wool in Tent Stitches, and would make a perfect pillow or bag front. It was also look beautiful framed as art.
