Definition:

Rug Canvas is a jumbo-mesh canvas used primarily for floor rugs or large-scale needlepoint projects.

Mesh size is a 3.75 to 5 holes per inch, with blue threads every 10 stitches to help you keep track of your stitching. It is used with thicker yarns such as rug yarn or with multiple strands of wool or other yarns.

Rug Canvas is available in a pre-packaged sheet, or by-the-yard in most needlework and fabric stores.

While it is best known for use in rug-making and latch-hooking, it's a terrific canvas for large-scale needlepoint projects such as floor cushions or tote bags, and is quick-to-stitch due to having 5 holes per inch or less.

As an example of scale, a pattern measuring 10 inches stitches on 14 count canvas would measure over 37 inches stitched on 3.75 mesh rug canvas.

Any needlepoint stitch can be worked on rug canvas - but remember it will be jumbo in scale.
