Work the design in Continental Stitch in the various colors of wool.
When completed, trim the edges of the canvas to within 1/4 inch of the stitched area and turn the raw edges to the back side of the canvas. Finish by adding a backing of wool felt, stitching it in place by hand around the outside edges.
Secure a pin-back to the center back of the butterfly and it's ready to wear.
