To work the first half of the stitch, make a vertical (straight) cross stitch over 4 canvas threads, working from bottom (1) to top (2), and then left (3) to right (4).
Work the second half of the stitch as for a standard cross stitch, working over 2 intersections of canvas from lower right (5) to upper left (6), and then lower left (7) to upper right (8).
