Binding the First Edge

To bind the first edge, cut a length of 1" wide masking tape slightly longer than the length of the edge.

Place the tape on the back side of the canvas, centering the edge of the canvas along the tape so that 1/2 of the width of the tape extends beyond the edges of the canvas.

Trim the excess tape at both ends so it is flush with the canvas.

TIP: Your needlepoint canvas should always have about 2 inches of space around the design. This area surrounding the design helps keep your canvas clean while working, and gives you a convenient place to park your needles when not in use.
