Here's a detail of the optional background stitching on the Chunky Spring Bird.
When using a cream-colored canvas (rather than white), I often will leave the background unstitched, as the colored canvas is pretty on its own. This time around, I decided to add some stitching.
I worked the background area of the center in the T-Stitch. This is a light, airy stitch that allows a lot of the canvas to show. This was worked in 3 strands of cream 6-strand embroidery floss.
The background of the outer border is worked in satin stitch, also worked using 3 strands of cream 6-strand embroidery floss. See the detail photo above.
