It's been a while since new pages have been added new Stitch Journal pages, so I thought it would be nice to post two new stitches that are perfect for Spring needlepoint projects.
The Wicker Stitch is a gorgeous, textured stitch that resembles a woven wicker basket. This stitch would be gorgeous worked as a needlepoint Easter basket!
I've worked the Wicker Stitch sample in a single color, but it can also be worked in 2 colors - use a darker color for the horizontal blocks to give your project depth and the illusion of dimension.
The second new stitch added this week is the Oblique Slav Stitch. This stitch is also highly textured and can be used as a filling for any shape (including smaller-scale baskets) or as a background. It's similar to the Slanted Gobelin, but with a much more pronounced diagonal slant.
Both stitches and have been added to the Needlepoint Stitch List to make them easy to find when you need them.
Enjoy!
